DESIGN PROCESS
TEACHING & USING TECHNOLOGY UNIT

My process throughout the entire unit

DESIGN BRIEF

My primary study, which focuses on what my partner and I will do with our forms and the responses, is discussed in my design brief. In the second study, I discuss searching through several websites (planners) on Google to find the best planners that everyone can use. In the end, I have sources I used to gather this information.

01

Summary of testing methods

We wanted to survey the entire high school, but asking each person one by one would take a lot of time, and on top of that, we would have to create pie charts or graphs to discuss the results, which would also take a lot of time. Instead, my partner and I decided to send out Google Forms, which helped us create and analyze our survey and made it simpler for our clients to access since you can use it with mobile or web browsers and no special software is required. As they come in, we immediately receive the results. Charts and graphs can also be used to quickly summarize survey data. Form made it easier for us to quickly gather information and generated a pie chart for us, giving us more time to work on our other assignments.

How well my product performed based on my success criteria

Because I changed the approach I would present my final product from a slide show to a poster just before it was due, I didn't do half of what I had planned to do to meet my success criteria. My product did do well, but I changed from my original plan, which I believe was a good decision because a slide presentation would have taken too much time and would be difficult for younger students to understand, but the poster was easy to construct and is simpler for them to comprehend. Secondly, posters are more accessible than slides because you can print or view them online. I was successful in bolding out the headings, adding colors to my poster, and adding images even if I didn't follow through with my strategy for the constraints. additionally, for my considerations Which one is the easiest for my audience to understand? Which one is the easiest to use? Which one will garner the most attention? Which one is more effective? are some of the questions I added to my poster.

Improvements

The improvements I wish I had made were to include a little more information in my poster. Although it is simple enough for my audience to understand, I believe I could have added more information while still making my message clear to them. Secondly, even though slide shows are harder to comprehend than posters for my younger audiences, there is a part of me that wishes I had stuck to the original plan, which was a slide show because if I had, my success criteria would have been meaningful, but because I didn't, I wasn't able to check off all the boxes.

Impact my product will have on my audience

the impact my product will have on my customers: My product's objective is to demonstrate which website or planner is the best and easiest to use for organizing and to support users in staying on track with assignments and tests. I wanted my product to help both beginners and those who are already organized find a better system of organization. Instead of just focusing on one particular digital planner, I gave my audience options so they could find the ideal digital organizer for them. I also included planners and note-taking apps that are already included with the Apple default apps so they have a larger selection to choose from, because some people simply do not want to download apps because it takes up storage space. I think my final product helped people find the right organization's app or website. I discussed notebook planners in addition to digital organizers so that my clients could pick the ideal planner for themselves.

Final reflection

  • What is one thing you feel you did well in implementing the Design Cycle during this project?

Even though there are many things about this project that I could have done better, I believe that one thing I did well was making sure that everyone could read and understand what my final project was discussing. Since I didn't want my project to only be aimed at older students or adults, I believe I did a really good job on that read.

  • What is one thing that you would like to work on and improve for your next design project?

I want to get better at time management for my upcoming design project. As I mentioned in my previous design project, the more work I put off, the more work piles up, forcing me to rush my final project. Due to my habit of submitting late, including my design brief and specification. My first problem occurred when I failed to submit my assignment on time and found myself falling behind in class. Thankfully, my final design was easier to create because it was digital, but I still believe that if I had started working on it earlier, I could have finished it before the deadline. Being lazy and putting off doing my work because I thought it would be difficult was an issue I frequently encountered. However, once I started working on it, I realized how simple and quick it was. If I had submitted the work earlier, I believe I could have done much better and more creative things with my design. My goals for the following unit are to maintain my attention, submit work on time, and prevent getting easily distracted.

  • List any suggestions you have on how I could improve this unit (or future units).

I believe Ms. Tara did a good job of guiding us through the unit, but occasionally I found it difficult to understand what I was supposed to work on, so perhaps in future units, we could write on the board what we should work on for that class, check to see if we were all able to finish it, and if not, do it as homework so that the next class everyone is ready to work on the next assignment so everyone will be able to turn in our project on time. Overall, I believe that Ms. Tara was positive, helpful, and patient with us throughout the unit rather than being easily irritated. Being irritable with students definitely has an impact on how they see the class, so I'm glad that Ms. Tara was upbeat and made sure we were holding up with our assignments.
