final design & plan

First idea

We decided to scrap that idea and construct a more sophisticated final design because our initial design for our first plan was a bit of a failure because it was too simplistic and too simple to create for a "final project" that would give us a lower grade.

Final idea

The game itself is essentially the spike hub, but with a twist of our own ideas, we chose to alter our game a little over time and we built a game that describes our area. For our final design, we sketched out 2 of the key components of our design. Also, we will incorporate the aura concept in the attachment that we will attach to the tiny cube-like object. The game is played as follows: when the cubes align with each other, you win, which causes the attachment to automatically spin with the Lego blocks on top. There are four different colors of Lego, and when one of them points in your direction, that color represents your aura. However, you might be wondering what the color blue signifies (for example, blue points in your direction). Once the Lego has done so, an audio clip of my voice and that of my partner will begin to play to explain your oura.

(We had one more stetch, which I forgot to photograph, but I will do so when I go home and add it to the e-portfolio.)

final idea

Although our client thought our initial design was decent, there was certainly room for improvement, so we chose to consider the feedback and improve our final product. Our client loved the idea of having a portable, simple game they could play anywhere that was designed to be similar to a fortune teller. Specifically, our client liked the layout of where the color sense, and where the motor is placed "It looks very pleasing and it looks very simple and clean its also easy to hold, I can hold it without the cords getting tangled in my hand."  Although we changed the design many times, which may have confused the client, they like the concept of our game and are excited to see the results!

programming of our game

We encountered some difficulties while developing the game for example, the audio at times didint work while other times it worked compeletly fine, the color cercor sometimes failed to capture the right colors (the lego blocks), or the moter occasionally failed to spin at the pace we wanted. However, despite all of our difficulties, we were able to succeed in creating a game that satisfied the requirements for our final design! The amount of time of the audio recordings was one thing we could not change but still wanted to do so. The spike Lego app only let us record for up to 9 seconds, which wasn't enough, so we had to shorten the script/audio, which made our design appear simple instead of complex.

Product Reflection

  • How the product could be improved (strand iii)

to further improve our product, I believe introducing more complexity would have been beneficial. Although I previously mentioned the limitation of audio clip length, allowing for longer audio clips, perhaps around 25 seconds, would have provided an opportunity to delve into greater detail about each color. This would have allowed for a more comprehensive and insightful fortune-telling experience, providing users with a deeper understanding of the significance of their chosen color.

I think expanding the color palette could have improved the overall design and our client's/audience's enjoyment of our game, we know this because a couple of audiences said to improve the game by adding more colors and other features to the final game. Although our game only used four different colors, including more would have increased its complexity and enjoyment. We could have made a more different and inclusive experience, by creating a wider range of aura colors, by including extra colors. The extra colors would have made it possible for a larger audience to relate.  Another specific improvement that was suggested to us as if we added better sound quality, I think this would have helped our client to hear the audio more clearly.

These changes would have allowed my clients & audiences to look into a wider range of options, resulting in a bigger and more enjoyable connection to the game.

  • the impact of the product on the client/audience (strand iv) -- this part should be similar to your initial impact in Crit A, with updates to accommodate changes in the final product.

The impact of our product on our clients and audience is focused on providing them with an enjoyable and device-free experience. By making a portable game that can be taken anywhere, our aim is to create fun moments and entertainment in various places. Whether it's during a long commute, a relaxing day at the park, or a gathering with friends, we hope our product provides an easy source of amusement that doesn't rely on electronic devices.

I think this product encourages people to gather and play together. Whether it's a group of friends on a road trip, a family gathering, or a casual get-together with colleagues, our product helps to bond with the people around you. Our product also encourages the audience to disconnect from technology and engage in more face-to-face interactions

In conclusion, the impact our product has on clients our and audiences is mixed! It provides a fun and portable game that can be enjoyed anywhere, while also addressing concerns of battery longevity. By encouraging social interactions and offering a device-free gaming option, our product aims to enhance personal connections with people around you and to give you a healthier and more balanced lifestyle.
